The event was attended by Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine, Tunisia\u2019s Commissioner General for Expo 2025, His Excellency Mr. Takeshi Osuga, Ambassador of Japan to Tunisia, members of the National Steering Committee for Expo 2025, media representatives, and other prominent figures involved in the preparatory work, including members of the Support Committee, Mr. Salah Hannachi, President of the Tunisian-Japanese Friendship Association, and Ms. Miyata Mayumi, Resident Representative of JICA in Tunisia.<\/span><\/p>

–<\/span>On this occasion, Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine stated: \u201cThe National Pavilion reflects Tunisia\u2019s uniqueness through its past, present, and future, with a theme adopted since the beginning of preparations: \u2018Partnership in Innovation, Science, and Technology \u2013 PIST for Saving Lives, through WEEDS (Water, Energy, Environment, Diet, and Sustainability).\u2019\u201d<\/span>
He added: \u201cThrough the architecture of the National Pavilion, we aimed to create a bridge between Japanese and Tunisian cultures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

–<\/span> For his part, H.E. Mr. Takeshi Osuga announced: \u201cThis is the third time Japan is hosting the World Expo (1970, 2005, and 2025). World Expos, held every five years for six months, are the largest events in the world in terms of visitors. Expo 2025 Osaka will welcome about 28 million visitors, including 3.5 million international guests.\u201d<\/span>

Artisans from El Jem, Djerba, Gafsa, Le Kef, and Nabeul are participating. Exhibits include artistic paintings arranged in a mosaic representing the ancient olive tree \u201cAl-Chraff\u201d from El Al\u00e2a (estimated to be over 2,500 years old), hand-painted ceramic tiles from Nabeul, handcrafted bedding, olive wood objects, and traditional crafts used as components of the Pavilion.<\/span><\/p>

The Pavilion\u2019s concept focuses on three pillars: optimal water resource management and use; food heritage and local products for better health; and progress in science and medicine.<\/span><\/p>

\u00ab\u00a0Expo Morning Talks\u00a0\u00bb: Media Meetings as Part of Tunisia\u2019s Preparation for \u00ab\u00a0Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

As part of the preparation program for Tunisia’s participation in the global event \u00ab\u00a0Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai\u00a0\u00bb taking place in Japan from April 13 to October 13, 2025, the Export Promotion Center organized two workshops \u00ab\u00a0Expo Morning Talks.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/p>

The organization of this series of meetings is part of the preparation for the programs of \u00ab\u00a0Onsen Day\u00a0\u00bb (Natural Thermal Springs Day) and \u00ab\u00a0OVOP Day\u00a0\u00bb (One Village One Product Day), scheduled to take place in June, during the three \u00ab\u00a0Thematic Weeks\u00a0\u00bb focusing on \u00ab\u00a0Health and Wellbeing\u00a0\u00bb (June 20 – July 1, 2025), \u00ab\u00a0Peace, Security, and Dignity\u00a0\u00bb (August 1-12), and \u00ab\u00a0The Future of the Earth and Biodiversity\u00a0\u00bb (September 17-28).<\/span><\/p>

The main goal of the workshops was to come up with a practical vision for Tunisia’s participation in these fields, to promote Tunisia’s image and the richness of its experience and expertise in sectors such as health, tourism, and local products.<\/span><\/p>

The \u00ab\u00a0Expo Morning Talks\u00a0\u00bb were attended by members of the National Leadership Committee for organizing Tunisia\u2019s participation in \u00ab\u00a0Expo 2025 Osaka,\u00a0\u00bb as well as members of the Support Committee, which includes experts and former diplomats, alongside experts in the thematic fields of interest, representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and students from the Tunis Business School (TBS).<\/span><\/p>

The Mineral Water Therapy Sector in Tunisia: Prospects for Cooperation and Partnership with Japan<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The first monthly meeting of the \u00ab\u00a0Expo Morning Talks,\u00a0\u00bb held on January 31, 2025, focused on \u00ab\u00a0The Mineral Water Therapy and Seawater Treatment Sector in Tunisia: Prospects for Cooperation and Partnership with Japan.\u00a0\u00bb The session was chaired by Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine, Tunisia’s Commissioner General for Expo 2025 and Director General of the Export Promotion Center with the presence of the Director General of the National Office of Mineral Waters and Water Therapy, the Director General of the National Tunisian Tourism Office, and the Secretary General of the Tunisian-Japanese Chamber of Industry and Commerce.<\/span><\/p>

The presentations focused on the economic and health aspects of Tunisia\u2019s natural therapeutic stations, comparing and contrasting them with those in Japan, highlighting the unique features of local therapeutic stations. The importance of utilizing the tourism and economic potential of this sector for the benefit of Tunisia was emphasized.<\/span><\/p>

Tunisian Local Products in the Globalization Race<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The second meeting, held on February 26, 2025, was dedicated to preparing for \u00ab\u00a0OVOP Day,\u00a0\u00bb scheduled as part of Tunisia’s participation in Expo Osaka. It explored the concept of \u00ab\u00a0One Village One Product\u00a0\u00bb (OVOP).<\/span><\/p>

The Commissioner General for Tunisia at Expo 2025 explained that the primary goal of the workshop was to create a process for developing the final components of the program for this activity day, showcasing the richness and diversity of Tunisia’s local products. This would aim to promote them in Japan while attracting the attention of visitors from around the world, allowing them to enjoy the uniqueness and quality of these products.<\/span><\/p>

Presentations during the workshop highlighted Japan\u2019s experience as an inspiring model for the \u00ab\u00a0OVOP\u00a0\u00bb concept, and other talks emphasized the diversity and richness of Tunisian products.<\/span><\/p>

Olive oil, a central product for Tunisia\u2019s pavilion, was presented as a \u00ab\u00a0symbol of excellence and authenticity,\u00a0\u00bb a key feature of the Mediterranean diet, making it a healthy and safe choice for consumers. Tunisia\u2019s various olive oil varieties and their benefits were showcased, along with the historical, scientific, and marketing aspects that should be promoted to introduce Expo visitors to \u00ab\u00a0Tunisia\u2019s Green Gold.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/p>

Tunisia\u2019s National Day: Celebrating Tunisian Women on Their Day<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The third and final media meeting of \u00ab\u00a0Expo Morning Talks\u00a0\u00bb is scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Export Promotion Center\u2019s headquarters, dedicated to Tunisia\u2019s National Day (August 13, 2025), with a focus on celebrating Tunisian women and highlighting their importance in various fields, as well as valuing national heritage and women\u2019s products.<\/span><\/p>

For remembering Tunisia is participating in Expo 2025 among more than 170 countries and international organizations, with a National Pavilion of Category B within the \u00ab\u00a0Saving Lives,\u00a0\u00bb \u00a0\u00a0covering 300 square meters. The theme of Tunisia’s national participation is \u00ab\u00a0Partnership in Innovation, Science, and Technology.\u00a0\u00bb This global event is expected to attract over 28 million visitors from around the world.
